Yarrows Export Success
From windy Wellington to glitzy Hollywood, to the neon-lined streets of Japan, Yarrows’ extensive range of quality breads and bakery products are enjoyed by people all over the globe.
We first began exporting our products in the 1970s, however, it wasn’t till the mid 1990s that our export business, which now accounts for approximately 60 per cent of sales - or six to eight container loads of product a day - really took off.
That’s when Yarrows beat off huge international competition to win the contract to supply the Subway sandwich chain with bread (in frozen dough form), to a more superior quality than others could offer and to an exact recipe.
Now, every month, Yarrows expert bakers make, shape and freeze dough for over one million Subway rolls. These supply the sandwich chain's stores in New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Taiwan.
However, it isn’t just Subway regulars who enjoy the great tasting and nutritious range of Yarrows bakery products. If you get a just-baked croissant at a hotel in California, it’s likely the dough may have been made in Manaia.
Yarrows buttery, French-style bread and other bakery goods are exported daily to hotels, restaurants, retailers and other food companies throughout Canada, the United States, Australia, the Pacific Islands, Singapore, Taiwan, the UAE and Japan.
Yarrows export success was recognised in 2007, when we were awarded the Food and Beverage Exporter of the Year Award at the 2007 NZTE New Zealand Export Awards.
